Each insert encloses one specimen, affixed inside by about 2 to 5 tiny adhesive strips, and on the exterior, 35 blanks for data, including date, place, habitat, scientific name, common name, type of branches, leaves, buds, sepals, stamens, etc. ; Copyright 1888, 1895, by author. Published by Allyn & Bacon, Boston. Interior pages are not bound in, as issued. ; This wonderful item contains 49 carefully preserved specimens collected (by Vera A. Henry, Reading High School, who penciled her name, school, and '02 inside front cover) in Reading, Hillside County, Michigan, in the year 1900. All (except one) specimens are fully identified by collector, who completetly filled out each insert in a neat hand in pen and ink. Portfolio has small chip at crown, moderate edgewear. Cords worn but holding together well. Specimens mainly garden flowers but there also some so-called weeds and some from flowering trees. All specimens still present. A remarkable and unique item.
