224 pages; 8vo (8.5") 22 cm; Orange softcover, 224 pages, footnotes, 1067 items listed and described, 107 b/w photos and illustrations with captions. ; Items include: portraits, maps, landscapes of places Columbus visited, relics of the conquest of the New World, original papers and documents relating to Columbus (many given here, in English translation, complete) and more. ; PLEASE NOTE: This is an actual book from 1893, not a flimsy overpriced book-on-demand reprint. ; Written by William Eleroy Curtis, director of Bureau of American Republics and Chief of Latin-American Bureau, World's Columbian Exposition, 1893. These relics were displayed at the Exposition in a replica (designed and constructed by Henry D. Ives) of the original Monastery of La Rabida in Spain. ; Pages are yellowed from age, as usual. Small chips to edges of covers, not affecting any text. Several pages have small pencil Xs on them, which we assume were made by one who carried this book through the exhibit in 1893, and we have not erased these marks. Binding tight. Scarce.
