Copyright page 1894, title page 1895. This is NOT a flimsy print-on-demand cheapie but an actual book from 1896. This is the original gothic novel of the evil hypnotist Svengali, basis of later tale Phantom of the Opera. ; Cloth browned on spine but gilt bright and readable. Top edge sunned. Tasteful b/w bookplate on front endpaper, name and place (George L. Welton, Waterbury, Connecticut) penned on same in old ink. A few small spots here and there otherwise no interior marks. Binding tight.
