520 pages; 8vo (8") 21 cm; Hardcover, gray cloth, black and gilt decor on front and spine, black lettering, all edges marbled, gray patterned endpapers, [xiv] + 520 pages, dozens of b/w illustrations reproduced from engravings. ; Sensational story of massive flood that drowned over 2200 people in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, when the South Fork dam collapsed in 1889. Published in 1889 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and in Stevenspoint, Wisconsin, by Creore & Nickerson. Needless to say we do not have room to give the complete 123-word title. ; Exterior shows light rubbing and a few very small spots. Owner name, address, and KDKA-TV-2 all lightly penciled on reverse of dedication page. No other marks. Pages yellowed from age but not brittle. Gilt is bright and sharp. Binding is tight. Overall a most attractive volume.
