Illustrated by different artists. ; Originally published 1847. This version copyright 1892. This edition 1893. ; Epic poem in dactylic hexameter records the fictional tale of Evangeline, who, in the 1750s, was expelled from Acadie (area in eastern Canada settled by French) along with other Acadians and embarks on a search for her lost love Gabriel. ; Time has not been kind to this book, which has a pale but visible dampstain affecting the top edge throughout, not affecting any text. Rear cover and spine are discolored from same. Old gift note lightly penciled on front endpaper. No other marks. Everything is readable. Binding tight. Sold as is.
