Before he went into politics he was an iron prospector in the Upper Peninsula and a newspaper reporter and owner. As governor he passed the worker's compensation law and eliminated the state deficit. This scarce political memoir has the author's own bookplate on front endpaper. ; Book shows only minor shelfwear. Main defects: front free endpaper missing, and owner name and address (Captain George J. Walhout, US Navy) stamped on title page. No other marks. Gilt is bright, binding is tight.
